My Story
Every day on my way to work I see people sleeping rough in Bristol City Centre and the numbers are growing.
So, I am supporting 1625 Independent People by Sleeping Out in aid of youth homelessness.
1625 help young people with many different things - housing, learning to live on their own, finding jobs and training, managing their health, and developing the confidence and skills they need to become independent.
They provide safe and secure accommodation to young people aged 16-25 including emergency housing, different types of supported housing and more independent “move on” accommodation.
They also run drop-in centres in Bristol and South Gloucestershire to ensure that young people can access the housing and support that they need.
In the UK, between April 2021 and March 2022, 129,000* young people approached their local council as they were homeless or at risk of homelessness? After assessment, only 9%* of those young people were provided with housing.
On Thursday 7th November 2024, I will be giving up my bed for one night to help raise awareness of youth homelessness and to support 1625 with the vital services they provide to the young people of Bristol and the South West who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Any donation you can provide will be much appreciated.
Thank you.
